Meta Slashes Prices of Quest Headsets to Entice More Into Virtual Worlds
On Friday, Meta slashed prices of its Quest headsets in an attempt to entice more people into its gear and into the virtual worlds Mark Zuckerberg has heralded as the future of the internet.
The move follows Zuckerberg's announcement in March that he believes VR is the future of communication and socializing. With the price reductions, Meta is hoping to make it easier for more people to experience the technology and its associated virtual worlds.
The headset is now priced at $299, which is $100 less than its previous price. Meta is also offering an additional $50 off the headset if purchased with the Meta 2 Developer’s Kit, a bundle that includes tracking sensors and controllers.
The company hopes these price reductions will help popularize the use of VR, bringing us closer to Zuckerberg's vision of a future where we interact in virtual worlds.
